PLAYLIST: Y'allternative, or Indie Twang 🤠

In this week's Subscribers Only playlist, we're taking a listen to one of the more interesting crossover trends of the past few years — Indie Twang.

Despite what the name might suggest, this is pretty far from the Alt Country or Americana sounds you might fairly imagine here. Rather Indie Twang (or "Y'allternative," or "Countrygaze") songs are squarely built on the tradition of 90s Indie Rock and Slowcore, but with the surprisingly effective addition of Country instrumentation (like pedal steel) and/or voicing.

This sonic cross pollination infuses Indie Rock songs with a level of emotional resonance and lane for intimate sincerity, while still maintaining the attitude and some of the raw intensity of Indie Rock.
