Mixed Tapes USA: MINNESOTA
Minnesota: home and font of inspiration for Peanuts creator Charles Schulz

This week, Mixed Tapes begins an ongoing series of exploring artists who hail from specific states. We're inaugurating the series with the great state of Minnesota.

Minnesota's always been a home for forward thinking artists. From Prince to Bob Dylan to The Replacements, the state's sonic influence is enormous. Jam & Lewis' "Minneapolis Sound" (most evident on Janet Jackson's Control album) changed the pop landscape, and Hüsker Dü's post-hardcore defined a genre 10 years before anyone else was doing it.
